I have a DS light, but no DSI, so I can only really say what the DSI can do and the DS Light cant, and vice versa.
The nintendo DSI can play all games for the DS and the DS light. It also has two digital cameras, one between the screen so you can take pics of yourself, and one on the back to take pics of other things. You can also use it to warp pictures or add little effects to them. Unlike the DS and the DS Light, the DSI can’t play GBA games, or use games like Guitar Hero On Tour that have a GBA port peripheral. But it does have an SD card slot and the ability to buy and download games from the online DSIware shop.
Well it basically works like you would expect.. It has two camera’s, a bigger set of screens, a smaller size, SD Card slot, and wifi internet.. You NEED wireless internet, and with it you can download different games from the online store… But one thing you have to know is that it has no Gameboy Advanced Game inputs. So a few games lose functions, or all purpose whatsoever.. These games are any of the Guitar Hero Games for Nintendo DS, and certain other little things, like the ability to transfer Pokemon from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/Firered/Leafgreen into Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum.. Basically, there is an upside, and a downside if you want to use those games! So have fun with whatever decision you make
The Nintendo DSi is a very cool piece of technology. The Nintendo DSi has a wider screen than the normal DS, and has better graphics. The power button is actually a button and not a switch on the side, it is located on the bottom left on the bottom portion. You have 3 different LCD lights on the side that tell you your Wi-Fi capability, the other tells you when the power is on, and the last light tells you when it is charging. The stylus is does not just slide in on the side like the DS, it is actually sort of put in a compartment in the DSi so it does not fall out. Also, the Wi-Fi capability is much better, it can go farther than then the DS and it does not crash down as easily when using it like the normal DS. Also the DSi has a built in camera and you can take pictures with it and distort them.
First off the DSI is better then the DS Lite. But the only draw bak is dat the DSI can’t play gameboy advance games. so guitar hero is out of the question 4 playin on it. There are 2 cameras on teh DSI. One in the front, another in the middle wen u open it. The pics do come out kinda blurry n don’t hav a flash for wen its dark out.The internet is like if it is on a mobile phone, or you can make it like if ur on the computer or laptop. You can connect to WIFI to get on. Also you can download games on the DSi shop. It much like the Wii Shop. the points r spent da same way.
honestly I got bored of mine quick
honestly its kind of boring but i like that you can play with pics

i do NOT own a dsi but i get nintendo power and have read all about it:
There are two cameras (not for great pics like at a wedding but good for messing around)
buttons are more flushed then ds
dsi shop ( like wii shop)
download music
generally just better than ds
buttons are in easy to reach places
smaller speaker holes
better looking
